Testimonials
Students share what you will experience in lessons with Gina!
“My biggest worry was that I would be signing up to lessons with someone who may be inpatient at my taking time to progress. However, I felt that Gina was incredibly encouraging which in turn motivated me to improve. My favourite part of the lesson was that she was willing to find music that I would actually want to play and then adapted it so that, with some effort, I could learn to play it within a relatively short space of time. Once again this kept me motivated. I would tell prospective students that you would be taught by a talented, passionate musician, but one who is also patient, understanding and encouraging.” - Myles
“Before I met Gina, I was worried that my daughter would not like the teacher and the lesson. I was surprised to see everything was perfect. Gina is one of the best piano teachers who can also teach disabled children. That is massive to me because most of the teachers couldn't manage to teach my autistic daughter - she did.” - Mado
“I wanted to improve my performance levels and to improve my technique. I hoped that Gina would be able to help with these objectives. The singing lessons have given me a much better understanding of breathing, changing the way I pronounce things and ensuring that my voice is presented to the best of its ability. It’s great fun and an enjoyable learning experience!” - Robin
“It was one of my dreams to learn to sing, but I never had the chance before. Since I never took singing classes, I did not know what to expect. I was worried that I would be turned down as I don't have an excellent singing voice and I miss the pitches, I also thought that because Gina is a pro in singing I would feel embarrassed that I cannot sing properly. But none of these things happened. Gina is very welcoming, wants to know everything about you, from A to Z that relate to singing. She encourages me every single time, tries to bring out the best from me.
I like everything about my lessons; I like especially the warm up when using my voice, as it surprises me over and over again what heights I can reach that I had never realised before. But as I love singing, the whole class is just fun... with a lot of work in it, of course.
You want to get rid of your stress? Go and take singing classes. With all the exercises, practices and challenges Gina gives during the classes, it really counts as a sort of meditation; you focus on your own body, on your breath.
Gina is the perfect choice of taking singing classes, she does not judge you, regardless of your vocal education, she gives you all the tools and advice to develop yourself; all the rest is up to you. - Edina
“I'd feared that I would have a hard time playing with both hands at the same time. Indeed, I've encountered this difficulty, with the brain having to cope with a brand-new task, but I also know that these things take time. Gina was very reassuring before I started my lessons and she’s continued to be patient and supportive and allows me to go at a pace that I'm comfortable with. I really like moving away from the book once in a while and having a go at a tune that's a bit beyond my current ability. It's challenging but also fun. She's a good teacher. She's patient and not harsh or scary like the ones we might have encountered when we were kids! I highly recommend her. - S.S.
“My biggest concern about getting a tutor for my daughter was whether it would be a good fit or not. My daughter Asia-Marie is quite sensitive but with the correct approach can be inspired to learn and play. I really wanted a teacher that would look at the type of person she is and plan lessons and teaching methods based upon that as opposed to just having a "one style fits all" method. When I first met Gina I realised there was something really wonderful and special about her. Gina was able to do the exact thing I needed most. She found out who Asia is as a person and built the lessons around that. Asia was so happy and relieved….as was/am I.
My daughter is absolutely besotted with Gina and would have lessons everyday if possible. I must admit I feel the same way.
Gina is by far one of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is pleasant, understanding and has a wonderful nature. Her teaching skills are built on this great foundation. She has a genuine care for her students and wants to inspire and does just that. She is the epitome of what a great teacher should be. Gina is the teacher you remember even when you don't have lessons anymore and you're far into adulthood. We love Gina...BEST teacher EVER!” - Sabrina
“My biggest worry before starting lessons was that I might not be up to standard, in particular that my sight reading skills may not be as good as her other pupils and that this might deter me from making progress. I need not have worried because Gina is a very warm and kind person and she completely put me at ease, which made me confident about my abilities. In fact, all lessons with Gina are very motivating and my sight-reading, far from being as bad as I had feared initially, has continued to improve under Gina’s tuition.
My favourite part of the lessons is singing together with Gina, which not only helps my sight-reading, but also increases my confidence so that I am able to give my best to the repertoire.
Gina is a very kind and gentle person and possesses the ability to transmit information to pupils with great clarity. I have worked with several vocal coaches and of them all I look forward to my lessons with Gina the most and feel I have made real progress under her guidance. I couldn't recommend her highly enough and look forward to many more lessons and further progress in the future.” - Luisa
“When I started my lessons with Gina I was a complete beginner. I had never taken any type of music lessons before. I was worried that it would take a long time to make progress and that I would be spending a lot of time learning the basics. But that didn’t happen. Within a short period I was learning how to play some of my favourite songs. The lessons are well organised and they have the right combination of theory and practice. It is always fun learning how to play a new song. You can enjoy music even more when you get an understanding of how it is created. It’s never too late to learn a new skill. Lessons with Gina will be fun and in no length of time you will be able to play along to your favourite songs.” - Tom
"My only worry when starting singing lessons with Gina was that I wouldn't be good enough and that she would make me feel inadequate if I made mistakes. This is absolutely not the case. Although we work very hard, Gina makes our lessons tremendously enjoyable and I'm always surprised at how much progress we make. It's not just my singing that has improved, but my confidence too and I know it's ok to make mistakes and to learn from them.
I have singing lessons to help me learn the music for my choir but recently we've been choosing songs for pleasure. Gina really understands my voice and helps select songs that suit my range. I look forward to my lessons and miss them during the breaks between concerts.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Gina for music lessons. She's very encouraging, accomplished and skilled at sharing her knowledge. She makes our lessons fun." - Amanda
“As parents we were worried that Rosie would be overwhelmed somehow with the experience, and would be put off music and the piano. Instead, Rosie (who is shy) immediately found Gina warm and encouraging. Gina is one of the most positive, friendly people I’ve met in the last few years – and that’s of everyone I’ve met. Her encouraging approach, and her focus on developing enthusiasm and musicality in the early days has been fantastic. We couldn’t recommend her more highly.” - Tom & Sophie
“My biggest worry was that Bonnie, who was 11 years old at the time she started music lessons, wouldn't feel relaxed. In my experience some music teachers are rather serious, earnest types who don't understand that for some, music does not come easily. I'm glad to say that this scenario didn't happen. Bonnie felt very at ease with Gina who has a lovely, sunny personality and a good sense of humour. They got on extremely well and Bonnie wasn't embarrassed about her difficulties with singing and was able to make great progress.
Bonnie's favourite part of the lesson was the fact that Gina had such wide musical knowledge. This meant that they could go from studying a Bach piece for the clavichord to having fun with singing a Disney song from The Little Mermaid. Gina's approach and personality made music lessons with her joyful, a pleasure rather than a chore.” - G. Askins
